2016 Immaculata Fall League–Standings–Week Eight

Morristown Finishes First in League; P-Way Finish Tied for 3rd

SOMERVILLE, NJ–On Sunday, the final week of action took place at the 2016 Immaculata Fall League with a full slate of nine games including five involving teams from the Greater Middlesex Conference. Two GMC teams emerged victorious on Sunday afternoon and evening.

There were two key matchups involving GMC teams: Bishop Ahr took on East Brunswick in one while Piscataway faced off against Morristown. Ahr scored an impressive victory by defeating EB, 54-49. The Trojans led by nine on a couple of occasions before that they had to hold off a late Bears rally led by Jesse Perel for the victory.

Piscataway, tied for third entering the day, battled Morristown, which was tied for first in the 5:00 PM game. The Chiefs had a 23-19 lead with about 13 minutes to play following a three pointer by Cameron Saintil, but the Colonials put together a decisive 22-3 surge to take a 41-26 lead with about five minutes left. Morristown went on to win, 54-49.

St. Joseph’s finished the fall on a strong note with a 50-28 victory over Franklin in the second game of the day. The Falcons scored 9 of the last 11 points over the final four minutes of action including a three by Mikey Granda, two free throws by Letrell West, and a two handed jam from Malachi Walker off a nice dish by Matt Crowley to finish off the win.

Morristown wound up winning the league with a 7-1 record after Immaculata fell to Watchung Hills in the nightcap, 42-23. Hillsborough won perhaps the most thrilling game of the day with a buzzer beating jumper to defeat Somerville, 40-39. The Raiders finished tied for third with six other teams. Twelve of the 18 teams in this year’s league finished at or above .500. Below are the final standings at Immaculata following the last day of action on Sunday:
