2012 East Coast Conditioning Fall League–Playoff Bracket

NORTH EDISON, NJ–At least eight teams competed in the 2012 East Coast Conditioning Fall League in North Edison with East Brunswick winning three straight in the playoffs to claim the championship there. The Bears had a tough road to get to the title having to avenge a regular season loss to Rutgers Prep (56-46) before downing Linden in the semifinals (44-32), and knocking off St. Patrick’s for the title (57-51). NORTH EDISON, NJ–There were at least eight teams that competed in this year’s East Coast Conditioning Fall League, and they represented several different conferences and geographical regions in New Jersey. Below are the conferences that were represented in this league.

NORTH EDISON, NJ–On Thursday night, play concluded at the 2012 East Coast Conditioning Fall League with East Brunswick winning the title by defeating Linden in the semifinals by the score of 44-32, and then upending St. Patrick’s in the Championship by the final score of 57-51. The Bears avenged a regular season loss from two weeks ago when they defeated Rutgers Prep on Wednesday night to reach the final four. There were at least eight teams that competed in this league. Below is a list of those teams.

Here are some video highlights from East Brunswick’s win over St. Patrick’s in the Championship Game of the 2012 East Coast Conditioning Fall League. The Bears jumped out to a 16-7 lead on a three pointer by Gary Baumer before St. Pat’s rallied with a 13-3 tear including a 7-0 spurt to start the second quarter for a 20-19 lead. However, EB was able to regain control through the continued solid play of Rob Ukawuba and the defense of Amir Bell along with some timely baskets late in the fourth quarter by Jake Krantz, and pull out the hard fought 57-51 win for the title.

Here are some highlights from the game between East Brunswick and Linden in the semifinal round of the playoffs in the 2012 East Coast Conditioning Fall League. Behind another quick start by Rob Ukawuba and Gary Baumer plus the solid play of Amir Bell, Jake Krantz, and Danny Leung, the Bears were able to take a 41-19 lead midway through the third quarter, and coast to a impressive 44-32 victory over Linden.

Here are some highlights from the first semifinal in the 2012 East Coast Conditioning Fall League in North Edison between Seton Hall Prep and St. Patrick’s. The Celtics netted five three pointers including four in the second half, and outscored the Pirates by a 15-9 margin from beyond the arc to take a ten point lead in the second half. Seton Hall Prep hung around though and got within five at 35-30 early in the fourth on a emphatic dunk by Tom Lacey, but St. Pat’s responded with a 6-0 run for a 41-30 lead, and went on to win from there, 50-40.

NORTH EDISON, NJ–On Thursday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to the East Coast Conditioning Fall League to take in semifinal and championship playoff action in the fall league there. There were three games on tap including two involving East Brunswick. GMC Hoops managed to see all three of the games, and got results from all three. See results below.

NORTH EDISON, NJ–After defeating Linden in the second semifinal, there was no rest for the weary as East Brunswick had to play a more rested St. Patrick’s squad in the Championship. The Bears jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first 6:31 of the first half on the shooting of Rob Ukawuba, Danny Leung, and Gary Baumer, but St. Patrick’s roared back with a 13-3 run over the next 5:04 including the first seven points of the second period for a 20-19 lead. The game would be back and forth for a bit before EB took control for good with a 10-4 spurt to end the half for a 31-26 lead. The Bears held that lead through the third, and led by nine midway through the fourth before having to hang on for a 57-51 victory. Below are some notes from the contest.

First Quarter

9:36–EB–Ukawuba–scores bucket to open the game for a 2-0 lead.
9:21–STP–turnover.
9:00–EB–Danny Leung hits jumper for a 4-0 lead.
3:29–STP–timeout–EB leads 16-7 after a three pointer from the right corner by Gary Baumer from Rob Ukawuba, Jake Krantz scored earlier on a layup from the left lane off a nice feed by Ukawuba, who also has 9 points including a three pointer and a tomahawk dunk.

1:50–STP–fouled–makes both FTs for a 16-11 EB lead.
1:15–EB–Baumer hits another three from left side of the key for a 19-11 lead.

Third Quarter

EB leads 38-33 after three. Low scoring quarter with both teams scoring 7 each. Big shot for the Bears was a three pointer by Gary Baumer from the right wing at the 5:25 mark. Rob Ukawuba chipped in with 2 of 4 from the foul line, and Leung opened the 2nd half with a basket.

Fourth Quarter

4:05–STP–calls timeout after Ukawuba drives and dishes to Krantz for a layup and a 44-37 lead. Bell came up with a huge block and saved the ball from going out of bounds moments earlier.

3:06–EB–Bell lobs inbounds to Krantz for a layin for a 46-37 lead.

NORTH EDISON, NJ–In the second semifinal, East Brunswick continued to make its run through the tough field at ECC with an upset win over Linden. The Bears smothered the Tigers with a stifling defense that shut down Linden’s big man Quadri Moore, and stifled Linden’s perimeter game. EB led by as many as 22 points in the second half thanks to the scoring of Rob Ukawuba and the shooting of Gary Baumer along with the fine play in the pivot by Jake Krantz, and went on to win by the final score of 44-32. Below are some notes from the contest.

First Quarter

9:30–EB–Rob Ukawuba hits three from top the key for a 3-0 lead.
8:25–EB–Ukawuba hits jumper from right elbow off weave play for a 5-0 lead.
7:45–EB–Gary Baumer hits three from left corner for a 8-0 lead.
7:35–LIN–timeout.
6:00–EB–Jake Krantz fouled on layup attempt–misses both FTs.
4:44–EB–Ukawuba slams home a dunk off steal for a 10-0 lead.

Fourth Quarter

EB had no field goals and only one point in the fourth quarter, but did a great job of running time off the clock down the stretch while making Linden earn their points at the foul line for a 44-32 win. EB only had one field goal and three points over the final 15:25, but their defense made Linden work for everything, and the Tigers were unable to get into a good rhythm offensively. Quadri Moore sat most of the 2nd half for Linden, and only had two points in the game.
