GMC Gridiron–Results–Week Eleven–Semifinal Playoff Games–Friday Night

Just got in about an hour ago from Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, where the Cinderella run of the Woodbridge Barrons came to an end. Unfortunately, the Barrons got too far behind in this contest as Ridge scored 21 first quarter points including a touchdown catch and punt return by football and basketball standout, Nick Cefalo. WHS would battle back with a touchdown in the second period, and two key defensive stands to go into the locker room at halftime down only 21-7.

In the third quarter, Woodbridge took the second half kickoff, and showed purpose and determination in its march down the field for a touchdown that closed the gap to 21-14. However, the Barrons couldn’t get any closer. Ridge won the field position game by pinning Woodbridge deep in its own territory, and that set up two interception returns for touchdowns that made it a 34-14 game. The Barrons would get a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t recover the ensuing onsides kick as the Devils advanced to the Championship game by a final score of 34-21. Ridge will be taking on Phillipsburg, which soundly defeated Westfield, 35-7.
