Woodbridge’s Pearson Picks FDU

Barrons Standout Signs Letter Of Intent To Attend Divison I School Next Year

WOODBRIDGE, NJ–On Wednesday, GMC Hoops learned from an article in the Star-Ledger that Kyle Pearson of Woodbridge High School has signed a letter of intent to play for Farleigh Dickinson University next fall.  The four year varsity player at WHS selected FDU from a number of schools including NJIT, Colgate, St. Francis, Delaware, and Princeton.

Pearson leads a talented Woodbridge squad that includes the likes of Keith Hughes Jr., and football standouts Kyle Anderson, Anthony Nyers, Mika Graham, and Duquan Bailey.  Last season, Pearson averaged nearly a double per game with just under 15 points and 10 rebounds per contest.  In 2010-11, the Barrons were 13-13, reached the round of 16 in the GMCT tourney, and qualified for the North Jersey Section 2 Group IV state tournament.  Woodbridge finished tied for third in the GMC White.

Pearson, a 6’4 senior forward, who is known for his athletic ability and sensational dunks, has worked hard this off-season to broaden his game.  He has improved his jump shot considerably since last season, especially from three point range.  He has also been handling the basketball more while Anderson and Bailey play football.  Over the summer, Woodbridge competed in the Rahway Summer League, and this fall, the Barrons have been playing in the East Coast Conditioning Fall League in North Edison.
