Top GMC Active Scorers–Final Update for 2016

Final Tallies Are in for this year’s Top GMC Active Scorers

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–Through most of the first month of the Greater Middlesex Conference’s Boys Basketball season, there had only been one player to eclipse the 1,000 point barrier, and that was Tyus Battle, who finished with 1,508 points. Battle scored his 1,000th point late in the third quarter of St. Joe’s win over Ramapo on day two of the 2015 Tip-Off Classic on December 20th. On January 17th, Battle was joined by Colonia’s Chase Barneys, who scored his 1,000th point in the third quarter against Ridge at the Eric LeGrand Classic. Barneys ended up with 1,325 points.

St. Joseph’s Bree Tyree (1,221 points) joined Battle and Barneys on January 26th when he scored his 1,000th in an 83-38 victory over Piscataway. On February 1st, Spotswood’s Marlon Hart (1,182 points) became the fourth GMC player to reach the 1,000 point milestone when he scored late in the first period in the contest against South River. Then, on February 8th, Spotswood’s Eric Dadika (1,191 points) became the fifth GMC player and the second from his school to reach 1,000 this season when he scored at the buzzer in a 63-55 loss at Bishop Ahr.

Matt Ross of East Brunswick went over the 1,000 point plateau in a 69-55 victory over Monroe in the GMCT Round of 16 on February 18th. Ross finished his career with 1,083 points. South Plainfield’s Lamont Williams joined the exclusive club last Monday afternoon with a 55 point performance against Koinonia Academy of Plainfield. He added 24 more in an overtime win over Piscataway Tech on Tuesday to end his career with 1,024 points. Then, on Saturday, Sayreville’s Ryan O’Leary (1,037 points) became the 8th GMC player to reach 1,000 points for his career this year with 12 points in a 62-52 loss to East Brunswick. In the Central Jersey Group 4 Quarterfinals, Old Bridge’s Connor Romano (1,004 points) became the 9th player in the GMC this year to go over 1,000 points for his career in a 19 point performance against Freehold Township. There are 26 active players in the GMC that have at least 500 points for their careers. Below is the list of the top 26 active scorers in the GMC as of the end of play on March 10th:
