Here are highlights from the GMC Red varsity clash between second ranked East Brunswick and top ranked St. Joseph’s. For two and a half quarters, these two top programs in the GMC went at it with each team answering the other’s run with one of their own. However, St. Joseph’s put the game away for good with a 16-2 run to end the third to take a 53-38 lead, and went on to win 75-53. It was the third straight year that St. Joe’s put together a big third quarter to put away EB in the showdown between these two schools at Maglio Gymnasium.
Syracuse bound, Tyus Battle led the way for Joes with 28 points while fellow senior Branislav Vujadinovic chipped in with 13. Alanzo Frink had a big fourth quarter to finish with 11 and freshmen Khalif Battle had two threes and finished with 8 points. Bree Tyree only had 6 points, but four of those came on two thunderous one handed dunks that helped set the tone for the game. Addis Ralph (19 points), Mike Vick (17 points), and Matt Ross (12 points) combined to score 48 of EB’s 53 points in the contest.
