GMC Hoops Highlights–February 10, 2016–Dunellen @ Piscataway Tech–Gold Division Clash

NOTE: I didn’t get to this game until a little over a minute to go in the first half. I had to resolve some issues with my cell phone, and the exit that I normally take to get to the school was closed.

Here are highlights from the last 17:19 of action in the Gold Division contest between Piscataway Tech and Dunellen. P-Way Tech jumped out to a 34-19 lead with 1:19 remaining to play in the first half, and maintained that 15 point lead at 37-22 going into the intermission. In the second half, the Raiders led by as many as 17 before Dunellen, led by Tyquan Fowler (21 points) and Nazire Jordan (18 points), went on a 21-7 surge to pull within three at 55-52 with under two minutes to play. The Destroyers scored 23 points alone in the third quarter as Fowler and Jordan combined for four three pointers and Jordan added a conventional three point play in the frame.

However, Piscataway Tech was able to pull out the 61-52 win thanks to a 6-0 game ending run that consisted of a score by Ali Austin, a steal for a layup by Daniel Peacock, and two free throws by Austin. Peacock also had two blocks during the stretch. Austin finished with a game high 26 for the Raiders while German Pimentel added 12, and Khalil Smith chipped in with 10. With the victory, and South River’s loss to East Brunswick Tech, P-Way Tech finished second in the GMC Gold.
