The final series of video highlights from the 1994-95 South Plainfield Tigers is from a game that was held a day after the loss to Bishop Ahr on January 31, 1995. On February 1st, SPHS did battle with long time arch rival, North Plainfield for neighborhood bragging rights. In this particular year, both teams tangled twice in a home and home series. Earlier in January, the Tigers won at home over the Canucks. However, this night would have the Canucks prevail in a somewhat controversial, and heartbreaking ending that gave SPHS its second loss in just 24 hours. You’ll notice a few characters in the video like longtime Tiger fan, Willie (don’t know his last name), who helped out with the Fire Department in South Plainfield for many years. Tim Lombardo, who was the JV and assistant coach at the time is also featured. Lombardo can be seen officiating games around the GMC.
