Battle of the Griffins Set for January 30th

Father and Son to Coach Against Each Other When PWay hosts Bishop Ahr

PISCATAWAY, NJ–During the off-season, there were a number of coaching changes that took place in the Greater Middlesex Conference. Among those changes were former Rutgers University standout Darius Griffin taking over at Piscataway while his son, D.J. Griffin took the helm at Bishop Ahr.

Both will be facing off against each other during the upcoming 2016-17 season. On January 30th, Piscataway will be hosting Bishop Ahr at 5:30 PM. Both teams are looking to improve this season, and put in a lot of work during the off-season. Both schools played in the East Brunswick Team Camp and Odie Page Summer League in New Brunswick during the summer.

Then, in the fall, both teams played in the Immaculata Fall League, where the Chiefs finished tied for third at 5-3 while Bishop Ahr ended up a game behind at 4-4. Regardless of their records, both teams showed a lot of improvement in their play. Piscataway has a lot of talent coming off from the lower levels while Ahr has some new faces that transferred into the school including Deonte Crawford, Matt Panganiban, and SImon Llaguno.

Piscataway is looking for its first winning season since reaching the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament final in 2011 while Bishop Ahr is looking to return to the success it had from 2008 to 2011 when it reached the GMCT Elite Eight three times and the Final Four once.
