Bishop Ahr’s McLeod Shines Off The Bench for Muhlenberg

Former BGA Standout Turns in Solid Freshmen Campaign for Centennial Conference School

ALLENTOWN, PA–While some GMC standouts that graduated in 2014 were still getting their feet wet at the college level, former Bishop Ahr standout, Owen McLeod, was one of several that were able to play major minutes and make significant contributions to his team. McLeod, who is playing Division III college hoops at Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania, turned in a superb freshman campaign while mostly coming off the bench for the Mules. This past season, McLeod, who attended St. Joseph’s his first two years, and played sub-varsity ball there, played in all 25 games for Muhlenberg including two starts. The Somerset, New Jersey native averaged 18.9 minutes, 7.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 assists per game.

He was ranked 7th on the team in scoring, 8th in rebounding, tied for 6th in assists, 3rd in three point field goal percentage, 2nd in steals, and 2nd in blocked shots. McLeod also had an assist to turnover ratio of 0.9. During the course of the season, McLeod compiled double digit scoring in six games played including a season high of 18 points in an 87-77 loss to Centennial Conference rival, Johns Hopkins of Baltimore on December 6, 2014. In that game, McLeod connected on 7 of 13 shots including 4 of 6 from three point range, and also collected 2 rebounds, 2 steals, a block and an assist. In another Centennial Conference game toward the end of the season, McLeod recorded a season high in minutes with 34 in a 67-58 victory at Ursinus on February 21st.

In the victory over Ursinus, McLeod started the game, made 4 of 7 from the floor including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc while also canning 6 of 9 from the charity stripe for 15 points while also collecting 5 steals and 3 rebounds. He also only committed one turnover. McLeod also scored 16 points in 22 minutes during an 85-57 loss to Franklin and Marshall on January 13th, 13 points in just 13 minutes in an 82-69 win at home over Haverford on February 4th, 12 points in 22 minutes in a 90-78 loss to Dickinson on January 27th, and 11 points in just 12 minutes in an 84-77 non-conference win at home over Moravian on November 30, 2014. This past season, Muhlenberg, which competes with the likes of Johns Hopkins, Urinsus, Dickinson, Haverford, Franklin and Marshall, and Swarthmore, only went 12-13 overall including a 7-11 mark in the Centennial Conference, which placed the Mules in a three way tie for 6th place with Swarthmore and Ursinus.
