GMC Hoops Game Notes–Bishop Ahr @ Piscataway–GMC Crossover Clash–January 30, 2017

PISCATAWAY, NJ–On Monday afternoon, GMC Hoops started off on a GMC crossover doubleheader with a trip out to Piscataway High School to take in the contest between the 6th ranked Piscataway Chiefs and 8th ranked Bishop Ahr in a match-up of teams from the GMC Red and GMC Blue.

The Trojans dominated right from the start by jumping out to a 7-2 lead, and thanks to the three point shooting of Alex Santiago, Matt Panganiban, and Alex Guketlov for a 37-19 lead at the intermission. Bishop Ahr then opened the second half by scoring 7 of the first 11 points of the third for a 44-23 lead.

Piscataway then rallied with a 31-14 surge that included scores from Jordan Davidson and Mattias Arrindell as well as a three point play by Keshawn Grant. Robert Terry then capped the surge with a three pointer from the right wing to close the gap to 58-54 with less than three minutes to play in regulation.

Bishop Ahr wouldn’t let P-Way get any closer as the Trojans finished the game with 14 of the last 24 points for a 72-64 victory. Santiago led the BGA with a game high 19 points while Sean Kudelka chipped in with 18 and Deontae Crawford added 17. Arrindell, Davidson, and Grant each scored 14 in a losing cause for Piscataway. First Quarter

3:30–Arrive with Bishop Ahr leading Piscataway 7-2.

2:24 left in the first qtr and Bishop Ahr has jumped out to a 13-2 lead on a Deontae Crawford score from the right side.

Second Quarter

5:37 left in the first half and Ahr now leads 21-9 after a Matt Panganiban three from the right side of the key. Trojans score 5 of the first 7 points of the period.

3:41 left in first half and PWAY calls time trailing Ahr, 26-11 after an Alex Santiago three from the left wing off a pass by Sean Kudelka. BGA has scored 5 of the last 7 points, and 10 of the first 14 points of the 2nd quarter.

0:00–End of the first half and Bishop Ahr leads PWAY, 37-19 after this buzzer beating three from the right wing by Alex Guketlov off a pass from Alex Santiago. Ahr scores 11 of the last 19 points, and outscored P-Way by a margin of 21-12 in the 2nd. Bishop Ahr’s first half scoring: Alex Santiago leads the Trojans with 16 points including four threes. Piscataway’s first half scoring: Tyree Barba-Bey leads the Chiefs with 6 points.


Third Quarter

6:00 left in 3rd and there is a timeout with Ahr leading 41-22 after a Kieran Hodder putback.

4:41 left in 3rd and PWAY closes to within 43-25 on a Dahjuan Bennerman three pointer from the right wing.

2:01 left in the 3rd and PWay’s Keshawn Grant coast to coast for a layup to close the gap to 46-31.

0:00–End of 3rd and Bishop Ahr leads PWAY, 50-34 after a steal for a score by Sean Kudelka. Ahr scores 4 of the last 7 points of the third.


Fourth Quarter

4:52 left and PWAY trails 54-44 after a reverse layup by Mattias Arrindell.

4:08 left in 4th and there is a timeout after a three point play by Keshawn Grant pulls PWAY within 58-49. Piscataway opens 4th on a 15-8 run.

2:51 left in 4th and PWay closes within 58-54 after a Robert Terry three from the right wing. Chiefs on a 31-14 surge since trailing 44-23 early in the third.

1:33 left in 4th and Ahr leads PWAY 64-56 thanks to a Sean Kudelka bucket from the left lane off a feed from Alex Santiago. Trojans on an 6-2 run.

53.4 seconds left in the 4th and Ahr leads 67-56 after an up and under move by Deontae Crawford for a score. Ahr has scored 9 of the last 11 points.

0:00–Game just ended with Bishop Ahr defeating Piscataway 72-64. Chiefs missed a three from the top of the key with time running out.
