GMC Hoops Game Notes–J.P. Stevens vs. Rahway–Rahway Summer League Championship–July 31, 2015

RAHWAY, NJ–in the Championship Game and the finale of the playoff tripleheader at the 2015 Rahway Summer League on Friday evening, J.P. Stevens took on the hometown Rahway Indians. After the two teams had four lead changes and two ties over the first 9:35 of the contest, J.P. Stevens took control for good with a 9-0 run that included two three pointers (one by Mike Katims) and then a conventional three point play for a 15-7 lead with 7:16 left in the half. From that point on, Rahway was unable to recover as the Indians couldn’t get any closer than two points the rest of the way and Stevens claimed the title with a 44-36 victory.

First Half

13:30–JPS–after RAH scored for a 6-5 lead, Hawks draw a foul and make 1 of 2 FTs for a 6-6 tie.

10:25–JPS timeout with RAH leading 7-6 after making 1 of 2 FTs earlier.

9:17–JPS-Mike Katims sinks three from right wing for JPS 2nd three in the last minute and a 6-0 run for a 12-7 lead.

7:58–JPS–scores on putback while being fouled for a three point play and a 15-7 lead.

7:16–RAH calls timeout after turnover with JPS leading 15-7.

5:54–RAH–three pointer from right side for a 15-10 JPS lead.

4:42–JPS–Katims pulls up for a short jumper off the dribble for a 17-10 lead.

1:19–RAH–hits three pointer and then a floater to close gap to 17-15.

1:01–JPS–Katims sinks three from the left wing for a 20-15 lead.
