GMC Hoops Game Notes–New Brunswick @ West Windsor-Plainsboro South–Non-Conference Clash–January 28, 2017

PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ–After watching St. Joseph’s come from behind to defeat Neptune of the Shore Conference in overtime, GMC Hoops took a trip down Route 1 South into the Princeton area to take in another non-conference game between New Brunswick and West Windsor-Plainsboro South.

Last year, these two teams met late in the season with the Zebras winning. This year, it was the same story as New Brunswick defeated the hometown Pirates from the Colonial Valley Conference for the second straight year. It wasn’t easy though as the Zebras gave up the first seven points and trailed 13-6 with 1:04 remaining in the first period.

New Brunswick, led by Curtis Revan along with some help from Frankie Lebron, battled back with a 15-4 tear over the last 9:04 of the first half to take a 21-17 lead at the intermission. The Pirates opened the final frame by scoring 7 of the first 8 points including a three pointer by Demetrius Worley to close the gap to 44-41, but New Brunswick didn’t let the home team get any closer. Instead the Zebras finished the game on an 11-5 run capped by several free throws from freshman point guard, Ahyan Brown-Miller for a 55-46 victory.

Revan finished with a game high 24 points while Lebron chipped in with 14 as the duo accounted for 69 percent of the team’s scoring.
