LINDEN, NJ–In the first game of the GMC Hoops doubleheader at the 2016 Linden Fall League, Old Bridge took on the host school Linden in the 6:00 PM clash. The Knights fell behind early, and actually trailed 24-7 with a little over seven minutes to go in the third period, and trailed by as many as 28 points midway through the period before ending the game on a 25-13 surge for a 50-34 Linden win. Kyle Paris stood tall in defeat for Old Bridge. Below are game notes from the final two periods of action:
Third Quarter
7:15–Arrive with Linden leading 24-7.
5:30–LIN–fouled and makes both FTs for a 34-9 lead.
4:45–LIN–three pointer from right wing for a 37-9 lead.
3:06–LIN–timeout–after an OB 6-0 run all courtesy of Kyle Paris with two dunks and a nice spin move along the right baseline for a layup to close gap to 37-15.
0:00–LIN scores on a basket and OB nets a pair of FTs to close out first half scoring for a 39-17 LIN lead.
Fourth Quarter
7:27–OB–opens period on a 7-2 run on layups by Paris and Will Osvald and a three from the top of the key by Rich Calandrino to close the gap to 41-24.
5:17–OB–after a LIN score, Paris gave a nice bounce pass to a cutting Calandrino for a layup from the right side while being fouled for a three point play and a 43-27 LIN lead.
2:44–LIN–timeout–follows a block and a pull-up jumper by Paris answers earlier LIN score for a 45-29 LIN lead.
0:00–OB–ends the game with a three pointer from the right wing by Calandrino to end a 5-2 LIN run for a 50-34 LIN win.
