GMC Hoops Game Notes–Sayreville vs. Arts—Kean Spring League—May 9, 2016

UNION, NJ–In one of the three 7:00 PM games on Monday night at the 2016 Kean Spring League, Sayreville was in action against Newark Arts on Court #3 at Harwood Arena. The Bombers fell behind 13-2 within the first 7:56 of the contest, and despite rallying to get within single digits late in the game, they were unable to recover as Arts won 50-45. Opeolwa Olaloko was a bright spot in defeat for the Bombers. Below are game notes from the action:

First Half

0:00–Arts closes half on a 7-4 run including a straight on jumper off the dribble in the waning seconds for a 28-14 lead at the half. Mike Gray had two FTs for SAY.


Second Half

16:39–Arts–ends 4-0 SAY run to start half with basket and a foul. Missed bonus FT for a 30-18 lead.

14:42–SAY–Olaloko–fouled and makes 1 of 2 FTs for a 31-19 Arts lead.

12:19–SAY–Olaloko fouled and makes both FTs for a 32-23 Arts lead. SAY on a 9-4 run.

8:45–Arts goes on a 6-3 run for a 38-26 lead.

4:30–SAY–Gray fires in three from left wing for a 40-33 Arts lead. SAY on 7-2 spurt.

2:35–Arts–timeout after a SAY putback closes gap to 7 again at 42-35.
