Here are some highlights from the action in 19th seeded Middlesex’s win over 14th seeded Perth Amboy in the Preliminary Round of the 2006 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament at Perth Amboy High School.
One year removed from giving up a 25 point late in the second half to Perth Amboy Tech, and losing in overtime, Group I Middlesex of the Blue Division came back to the city of Perth Amboy and pulled off a surprising upset over Group 4 and Red Division power, Perth Amboy.
Leading the way for Middlesex were Phil Barnes (#23), Robbie Tolomeo (#42), John Stockton (#12), and Mark Stockton (#20). Perth Amboy was led in defeat by Lamound McGibboney (#10), Curtis Jefferson (#21), Andrew Welch (#25), and Jeff Gumbs (#32).
