GMC Hoops Highlights–December 27, 2016–Highland Park vs. Middlesex–Shello-Santy Tourney

Here are highlights from the action in Middlesex’s win over Highland Park in the opening round of the 2016 Shello-Santy Tournament.

The Owls gave the Blue Jays more of a battle this year, but the Jays found a way to win in the end, 38-35. Highland Park jumped out to an 11-4 lead before Middlesex rallied with 6 of the last 8 points of the first period including a three by Tyler Ha and then scored the first 6 points of the second for a 16-13 lead.

Trailing at the half, 25-20, Highland Park scored 6 of the first 8 points of the second half including a bucket by Nasir Boykins to pull within one at 27-26. Middlesex then ended the third with a 7-1 spurt including a layup and two free throws by John Dickey for a 34-27 lead.

The Blue Jays led by nine with a little over a minute remaining in the game after scores by Jake Robel and Tyler Ha, and hung on to win, 38-35 to advance to the Championship Game against Dunellen. Dickey led the Jays with 14 while Ha chipped in with 11. Naeem Ghee led all scorers with 20 points while Angel Holguin chipped in with 10.
