Here are highlights from the action in the Greater Middlesex Conference Crossover Clash between Edison of the White Division and Spotswood of the Blue Division at the SAC in Spotswood.
Behind the play of senior Joe Cudakiewicz and the sophomore Christian Wantong, the Edison Eagles scored 11 of the first 17 points of the game by the 2:16 mark of the first quarter. Then, the Eagles scored 16 of the next 24 points for a 27-14 lead midway through the second.
From there, Edison went on to lead by 20 on several occasions in the second half before Spotswood closed out the game with 17-8 run for a 72-61 Edison Eagles win. Cudakiewicz led all scorers with a game high 27 points while Wantong chipped in with 20 and senior Justin Turner added 14.
Matt Vento led Spotswood in a losing cause with 21 points while Justin Dekovics chipped in with 13. The win gave Edison its 7th victory in its last 9 games to improve to 9-13 overall on the season. Spotswood dropped to 5-17 on the season, and will face Piscataway Tech in the GMCT Play-In round.
