Here are highlights from the action in eighth seeded St. Joseph’s victory over fourth seeded North Brunswick in the Perth Amboy/GMC Freshmen Tournament Semifinals at Perth Amboy High School.
In a game that finished with two wild swings of momentum, St. Joseph’s rallied from a 48-41 deficit with a 16-4 tear to take a 57-52 lead late. North Brunswick got a late three, and had a chance to tie or win, but couldn’t get a shot off in time as time ran out with St. Joseph’s Freshmen winning, 57-55.
The Freshmen Falcons had taken a 37-29 lead on two steals for layups by DeMarcus Shepard early in the third, and a three pointer by Justin Monahan with 1:37 left in the third, but North Brunswick rallied with a 19-4 surge that included 8 points by William Britton, and a score by varsity football standout Myles Bailey for the seven point lead.
The Freshmen Falcons rallied though with their rally that included a three by Tommy Fehl for the lead. Adam Boucher also had a score to help the Freshmen Falcons go ahed for good.
Boucher finished with a game high 16 while Shepard chipped in with 10 for St. Joseph’s while Ihsann Whitehurst led North Brunswick with also a game high 16 points while Britton chipped in with 13. St. Joseph’s will take on second seeded Piscataway in the Championship Game.
