Here are highlights from the action in top seeded St. Joseph’s win over 4th seeded Woodbridge in the GMCT Semifinals at South Brunswick High School.
Trailing 27-20 at the half, Woodbridge rallied with a 20-14 surge over the first 13:58 of the second half including two steals for layups by Harry Rutkowski (16 points) to pull within one at 41-40 with just over two minutes to play. However, St. Joseph’s pulled away with a 7-0 run the rest of the way sparked by a huge block by Malachi Walker (2 points) for a 48-40 victory.
Letrell West led the way for the Falcons with 14 points while freshman Richard Greaves added 13 and fellow classmate, Tyree Taganeca-Ford chipped in with 10 points. Keshaun Henry chipped in with 9 points in a losing cause for Woodbridge.
With the victory, St. Joseph’s advanced to its 10th straight GMCT Championship Game against 3rd seeded Sayreville, a 67-65 winner in overtime over 2nd seeded South Brunswick.
