GMC Hoops Highlights–February 24, 2012–North Brunswick vs. St. Joseph’s–GMCT Championship

Here are some video highlights from the Championship Game of the 2012 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament between top seeded St. Joseph’s and second seeded North Brunswick. The Falcons won their third straight GMCT Championship becoming the first team since the 1983-85 St. Peter’s Cardinals to three peat as MCT/GMCT Champions. It was also the fifth straight year St. Joe’s has reached the final.

The Falcons jumped out to an 18-5 lead and went on to win 70-65. To its credit, North Brunswick hung tough and battled back several times to get the lead down to either four or five, but couldn’t get any closer than that. Quenton DeCosey ended up as the tourney’s MVP as he scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Freshman Karl Towns chipped in with 15 points and 12 rebounds while blocking several shots. Danny Brix added 12 points while Jimbo Long contributed with 11 points while Karim Awad scored 8 points each for the winners.

Dion Rogers and Iverson Fleming each scored 23 in a losing cause for North Brunswick, which made its first finals appearance since 1997 when it defeated St. Joe’s for its only conference title.
