GMC Hoops Highlights–February 25, 2009–Piscataway vs. St. Joseph’s-Green–Amboy Freshmen Tourney Final

Here are highlights from the action in the Championship Game of the 2009 Perth Amboy Freshmen Tournament. In what was considered to be one of the best groups of talent ever to play in a Amboy Freshmen Tourney final, St. Joseph’s-Green jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, but P-Way would respond.

The Freshmen Chiefs rallied with a 12-0 run to take a 12-9 edge, and the game seesawed back and forth with several lead changes before P-Way took the lead at the intermission, 23-22. Piscataway then opened the second half with a 16-6 tear for a 39-28 advantage.

St. Joe’s-Green wouldn’t go quietly though. Led by DeCosey and Karim Awad, the Freshmen Falcons put together a 24-15 surge to close the gap to 54-52 with under two minutes to play. Sharpe then put the game away with two late FTs as P-Way won, 57-52.
