GMC Hoops Highlights–January 15, 2017–J.F. Kennedy vs. New Providence–Eric LeGrand Classic

Here are highlights from the action in J.F. Kennedy’s win over New Providence on the second day of the 2017 Eric LeGrand Classic held at Kean University’s Harwood Arena.

After Kennedy took a 3-2 lead on a three pointer by Pete Obertan, New Providence went on a 8-0 run including two threes for a seven point lead. The Mustangs battled back though with a 10-2 run to end the first for a 13-12 lead.

JFK increased its lead to five with an 18-14 showing in the second including 7 of the last 10 points of the half including a dunk by Benji Pierre for a 31-26 lead. The Mustangs then pulled away in the fourth with a 25-19 showing including several scores by Obertan, a steal for a layup by Tamaj Coleman, and two pairs of free throws by Coleman to wrap up the 64-53 victory.

Coleman finished with a game high 17 points including two threes while Obertan chipped in with 13 points. Pierre and Carlton Sears also added 10 points for Kennedy, which improved to 3-7 on the season.

Brian Kelly led all scorers with a game high 17 points for New Providence while Jackson Barletta chipped in with 13. Greg Meyers added 8 in the loss as well.
