Here are old school highlights from the action in the 2015 NJSIAA Group 3 State Semifinals between GMCT and North Jersey Section 2 Group 3 Champion, Colonia and North Jersey Section 1 Group 3 Champion, Bergenfield at East Orange Campus High School.
Trailing 33-27 after three periods, Bergenfield rallied in the fourth with a 25-18 showing to come away with the 52-51 victory. D.J. Haskins scored 11 of his game high 20 points in the final frame while Jovani Haskins chipped in by going 8 of 9 from the charity stripe to finish with 13 points in the win. Both D.J. and Jovani Haskins also collected double-doubles by pulling down 10 rebounds.
Chase Barneys led Colonia in defeat with 14 points including two three pointers in the final 21.7 seconds while also collecting 6 rebounds. James Corbett added 8 points including the 1,000th of his career in the first half while also picking up 6 assists and 3 steals. Brandon Haines, who also hit a clutch three in the second half, chipped in with 8 points and 6 rebounds as well.
With the victory, Bergenfield advanced to play Ewing in the Group 3 State Championship Game at Rutgers University, and improved to 22-5. Colonia finished its season at 24-5.
