Here are highlights of the action in the 2014 Non-Public B State Championship between the Non-Public B North Champion, St. Anthony’s and the Non-Public B South Champion, Roselle Catholic. In a great sequel to the 2013 Non-Public B State Championship, Roselle Catholic jumped out to a 13-2 lead only to have St. Anthony’s rally back to take the lead in the second half.
However, the Lions, which have begun to play like they are capable of over the last couple weeks, outscored the Friars 19-13 in the final frame including a 13-4 tear to close the game. Matt Bullock sparked the decisive run with a three pointer to tie the game at 50-50 with 4:18 remaining.
Isaiah Briscoe, who dished the assist on the play, scored 12 points in the final frame, and ended up with 24 on the game. Bullock ended up with 13 while Asante Gist, who had a couple threes in the first period, ended up with 11 for the Lions. Markis McDuffie led the Friars with 21 points while Jagan Mosley chipped in with 14 including two spectacular dunks in the second half.
