GMC Hoops Highlights–March 3, 2015–#11 J.F. Kennedy @ #6 Wall Towship–CJ Group 3 Tourney

Here are old school highlights from the last 22 minutes of action in sixth seeded Wall Township’s victory over 11th seeded J.F. Kennedy of Iselin in the opening round of the 2015 Central Jersey Group 3 State Tournament at Wall Township HS.

Trailing 19-14 midway through the second quarter, Wall responded by scoring the next five points including the 1,000th point of Brendan Barcas’ career on a three pointer. Kennedy would score 4 of the last 6 points of the first half for a 23-21 advantage at the intermission.

The Mustangs, which entered the game playing quite well at the time, put together a 17-6 surge in the third quarter to take a 40-27 lead heading into the fourth. The Crimson Knights would respond though with a 19-4 showing in the fourth capped by a three pointer from Joe Tashjy with 20 seconds to play for the 46-44 victory.

Barcas finished the contest with a game high 23 points while Tashjy and Ryan Janeczek added 9. Pete Obertan and Stepp Oziegbe led JFK in a losing cause with 14 points while Andrew Allen added 8 points. Big man, Kush Patel only scored 4 points, but pulled down 15 boards, handed out 5 assists, and blocked 2 shots.

Wall Township, which had three different players score over 1,000 points including Barcas, Janeczek, and Trent Mitchell improved to 19-7 with the victory, and advanced to play third seeded Hamilton in the CJ Group 3 Quarterfinals. Kennedy finished its season at 11-15.
