Here are highlights from the action in the 2017 Non-Public A South Semifinals between 3rd Bishop Eustace of Pennsauken and 2nd seeded St. Joseph’s at Maglio Gymnasium in Metuchen.
The Crusaders of Eustace scored 9 of the first 12 points, and eventually led 20-9 en route to a 32-18 halftime advantage. From there, the Camden County school led by over 20 points in the second half en route to a 63-46 victory.
Jesse Saul led the Crusaders with a game high 22 points while Peyton Vostenak added 15, and Alec DiPietrantonio chipped in with 12. Freshman Richard Greaves led St. Joseph’s with 17 points while senior Letrell West chipped in with 14 points including his 1,000th of his career with 5:49 remaining in the game.
With the victory, Bishop Eustace improved to 22-6 overall on the season, and advanced to the Non-Public A South Championship Game against top seeded and defending champion, St. Augustine, a 78-64 winner over fourth seeded Notre Dame on March 7th at Jackson Liberty HS. St. Joseph’s, the GMC Red and GMCT Champion, finished a great season at 26-2.
