Here are highlights from the action in South Plainfield’s win over Plainfield in the Championship Game of the 2003 HawksBasketball Fall-Ball Classic at Woodbridge High School.
South Plainfield, the second seed in the 2003 HawksBasketball Fall-Ball Classic playoffs, and led by the likes of two NCAA Division I players in Marquis Jones (University of Rhode Island) and Darren Smith (University of Pennsylvania) completed a great run through the playoffs with an 82-69 victory over Plainfield.
En route to the championship, South Plainfield defeated the likes of Roselle Catholic in the quarterfinals and St. Joseph’s in the semifinals. Plainfield, which was seeded fourth in the tournament, and defeated top seeded Linden in the semifinals, was led by former P-Way Tech head coach, Mike Gordon (SUNY-Binghamton) and Tyrone Davis.
