Here is a slideshow of photos from the action in the first contest of the second day of the 2017 Eric LeGrand Classic between Carteret and Hillside held at Kean University’s Harwood Arena.
Carteret jumped out to a 10-0 lead before Hillside put together a 33-19 surge including a 7-0 run late in the third for a 33-26 lead. The Ramblers battled back though with a three pointer by Jalen Harris that banked in at the buzzer for a 33-32 Hillside lead after three.
Harris’ three sparked a 19-9 tear for the Ramblers that included scores from Jemar Jordan and Isaiah Daniels-Porter for a 48-42 lead with 1:19 remaining in the fourth. Hillside responded again by netting back to back threes within seconds, and then made two free throws with 7.4 seconds to go to tie the score again at 50-50.
Carteret would emerge victorious though as Nasseir Moore took a pass from midcourt, and sank a jumper from the right baseline as time expired for the 52-50 victory. Moore finished with 14 points while Jordan added 13, and Daniels-Porter chipped in with 12.
Tyrese Cherry led Hillside in defeat with a game high 16 points while Malcolm Webb added 12 points and Ta’kier Hill chipped in with 9.
