GMC Hoops Summer Coverage 2012

Good morning. Many might be wondering what has been going on with me and the web site. What has been going on has been no accident. Despite hurting my back on the day before the Tournament of Champions final, and missing that game as well as the GMCBCA Senior All-Star Game, I’ve pretty much stayed away from basketball on purpose.

I’ve decided to focus on other things this spring and summer. Back in early January, I did some thinking about things and decided that I would take the spring and summer off for the most part. I wanted to work on other projects. Some of those projects are related to the site, and some or not. Most importantly though, I wanted to have a more normal spring and summer. What I mean by that is doing things that everyone else likes to do this time of year: relax.

I’ve been running GMC Hoops for 12 years, and in that time, the offseason has become more and more of a chore. Summer has become the busiest time of year for me, and not just because of basketball. Summertime also means tropical storms and hurricanes as well as other types of weather, which I cover at my web sites, Greg’s Weather Center and Hurricaneville. High School Basketball has become a 24-7-365 thing for me, and other aspects of my life have suffered as a result of this sacrifice. I’ve virtually had no breaks until recently since I returned to action from a hiatus back in the 2008-09 season.

Does this mean that I won’t stop by and see a game every now and then during these next several months? No. I do get bored from time to time, and I may just want to go out and catch some of the action. However, it won’t be everyday. Enjoy the warm weather, and the summer league action, and I’ll see you in the fall for fall league action as well as high school football and college hoops.
