Old Bridge Falls to Two New York Foes
NEPTUNE, NJ–After watching some football on Saturday, GMC Hoops traveled down Route 18 South to the Hoop Group Headquarters to take in some of the action from the first day of the 2016 Hoop Group Fall Showcase. Old Bridge, the lone representative from the Greater Middlesex Conference, played two games against foes from New York.
In the first game, the Knights gave way to a 14-0 run by Trinity Pawling to trail 43-28 and actually fell behind by as many as 21 points late before putting together a 14-3 rally to end up losing 59-49. Kyle Paris stood tall in defeat for the Knights. Then, in the nightcap, Old Bridge took on McQuaid Jesuit of Rochester (NY).
The Knights were much more competitive throughout led by the likes of Paris, Brandon Milling, Will Osvald, and Rich Calandrino, but again fell short. The upstate New York School led by double digits in the second half only to have the Knights fight back within two on a couple of occasions before losing 61-56.
