New Brunswick Falls to Elizabeth in Championship

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On Thursday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to New Brunswick Middle School to take in the Championship Game of the 2016 Odie Page Summer League. New Brunswick, the top seed was taking on Elizabeth, the third seed in the title game.

Early on the Zebras looked like they were going to win the crown. Trailing 13-4 midway through the first half, New Brunswick embarked on a 17-3 run that consisted of a three pointer from Jodie Harris, and a basket by German Pimentel as he was fouled for a 21-16 lead.

However, Elizabeth connected on a three pointer while being fouled for a four point play at the two minute mark, and that sparked what would be a decisive 12-0 run that lasted into the early moments of the second half for a 28-21 lead. The Minutemen eventually increased its lead to 16 before the Zebras got a layup from Curtis Revan with 11 seconds left, and two free throws with two seconds to play to close out Elizabeth’s win.
