Amboy High Defeats Amboy Tech 59-41

PERTH AMBOY, NJ–In the battle of Perth Amboy, the Panthers prevailed. Senior forward Edwin Guerra led Amboy High with 16 points. Marcus Cheeks also chipped in with 16 for the Panthers. This was the season finale for Perth Amboy High and also marked the final game for coach Neil Kennett who will retire this year.

The Patriots were led by juniors Joey Castro and Anthony Patterson both scoring 16 points. Castro grabbed 10 boards,dished 4 assists and had 2 blocks. Patterson added 12 rebounds with 4 blocks and 2 assists.

Jon Aquije contributed 9 rebounds 4 assists 2 steals and 3 blocks for Amboy Tech. Wilson Lopez and Anthony Vidal played pressure defense all night.

The neighborhood rivalry created a lot of local interest as fans supporting both sides packed the gym for the largest crowd of the season.

The Patriots move on to NJTAC Semi-Final game against North 13th Street Tech on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The game will be played at Newark Tech. With the victory, Perth Amboy closed out the season at 6-17 overall including a 6-14 mark in conference play while Amboy Tech dropped to 14-9 overall and 7-7 in the GMC.
