South Amboy Rolls Past Highland Park, 55-35

Gasiewski and Kazar Lead Guvs Past Owls

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ–The South Amboy Governors put an end to a three game losing streak with a solid 55-35 win over Highland Park in a GMC Gold clash at South Amboy Middle-High School on Wednesday night.

Kyle Gasiewski continued his stellar play this season with a game high 24 points while Alan Kazar chipped in with 18 points. Six different players scored for the Guvs. Highland Park was led by senior guard Dylan Boynton, who had a team high 10 points while Nasir Boykins chipped in with 9.

South Amboy outscored Highland Park in three of the four quarters played with the second period ending in an 11-11 tie. One of the keys to the Guvs win was limiting Highland Park’s standout forward, Naeem Ghee to just one point. Six different players also scored for the Owls.

The Guvs opened the game with a 23-10 surge, and led 34-21 at the half before increasing their lead to 17 after three. With the victory, South Amboy improved to 4-6 overall including a 3-3 mark in the Gold Division. The Guvs moved into third place in the Gold with the victory.

Highland Park fell to 3-6 overall including a 2-4 mark in divisional play. Both teams return to action on Friday with Highland Park visiting East Brunswick Tech at 5:30 PM while South Amboy hosts Perth Amboy Tech at 7:00 PM.
