View the bracket for the 1997 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament, which took place from February 19th to March 2nd. The 1996-97 season marked the fourth year of the open tournament in which any GMC school could participate.
Preliminary and First-round games were played at the higher-seeded teams. The GMCT Quarterfinals were played at their usual location of Middlesex County College. However, there was a change in location for the semifinal round.
For the first time since 1980, the MCT/GMCT Semifinals were played somewhere other than the RAC. The 1997 GMCT Final Four was played on two different nights at Middlesex County College. The title game remained at the Rutgers Athletic Center. Fifth-seeded North Brunswick won its first county/conference tourney title in school history.
