View the bracket for the 1998 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament, which took place from February 18th to March 1st. The 1997-98 season marked the fifth year of the open tournament in which any GMC school could participate.
Preliminary and First-round games were played at the higher-seeded teams. The GMCT Quarterfinals were played at their usual location of Middlesex County College. The semifinal round was played at MCC for the 2nd straight year. However, there was a change in location for the Championship Game.
For the first time since 1970, the MCT/GMCT Championship was played somewhere other than the Rutgers Athletic Center or the old Rutgers College Avenue Barn. The 1998 GMCT Championship was played at the brand-new South Brunswick High School on Ridge Road. Top-seeded St. Joseph’s led by Jay Williams won its 2nd county/conference tourney title, and first since 1993.
