GMC Hoops Game Notes–#5 T&T Coast vs. #3 Seaview Jeep–JSBL Championship–August 8, 2016

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ–In the Championship Game of the 2016 Jersey Shore Basketball League between third seeded Seaview Jeep, and fifth seeded T & T Coast, there were four lead changes and two ties early on before Seaview Jeep took control for good with a 17-11 run for a 25-18 lead with just over two minutes to go in the first period.

T & T Coast rallied with 6-2 spurt that included a score by Jason Westrol to pull within three at 27-24, but Justin Robinson launched a long three for a six point lead heading into the second quarter. Seaview Jeep then opened the second period with a 22-7 tear that included a three point play by Robinson at the 7:20 mark and a three by Kerron Sheard at the 7:01 mark for a 49-31 lead.

Seaview Jeep then went on to lead by as many as 33 points in the second half before T & T Coast ended the game on a 16-3 spurt including an alleyoop dunk by James Starbach, a dunk by O.D. Anosite, and two threes by Sean Gallagher to close out the 128-108 Seaview Jeep victory. Former South Plainfield and Rhode Island standout, Marquis Jones played for Seaview Jeep while former St. Joseph’s player, Mike Brunson, who now plays at Misericordia, played for T & T Coast. First Quarter

5:52–SJ–Andrew Feeley scores for a 5-2 run that also included a three by Louie Pillari for a 13-9 lead.

5:09–SJ–Another runner by Robinson for a 4-2 run and a 17-11 lead.

2:40–TT–OD Anosite scores down low to end 5-3 SJ run for a 22-16 SJ lead.

2:09–SJ–long three by Robinson for a 25-18 lead.

35.4–TT–Jason Westrol dribbles into the paint for a score and a 6-2 TT run that closes the gap to 27-24.

26.8–SJ–Robinson drills another long three for a 30-24 lead.

Second Quarter

8:58–SJ–Robinson uses screen by Feeley to let fly another long trey for a 8-2 start and a 38-26 lead.

7:20–SJ–Robinson nifty move on Mason Jones for a three point play and a 46-31 lead.

7:01–TT–timeout after a three by Kerron Sheard gives SJ a 49-31 lead. SJ on a 22-7 tear over last 3:34.

6:40–SJ–nice give and go between Feeley and Robinson for Robinson layup and a 51-31 lead.

6:19–SJ–Pillari three from right wing for a 54-31 lead.

5:12–SJ–timeout after a 6-0 TT run including scores by Westrol, Anosite, and Justin Leith for a 54-37 SJ lead.

2:53–TT–timeout–scored 8 of last 12 points including score by Leith to close gap to 58-45.

0:00–SJ–ends half with a 10-8 run capped by back to back breakaway dunks by Matt McMullen. Marquis Jones had assist on last dunk for a 68-53 lead.


Third Quarter

9:11–SJ–opens third on a 5-2 run including alleyoop dunk by Louie Pillari off feed from Robinson for a 73-55 lead.

6:40–SJ–scored last five points from Pillari including three for an 84-66 lead.

1:59–SJ–basket and the foul by Sherrod for a 12-10 run and a 96-76 lead.

0.0–SJ–Robinson beats buzzer with a fadeaway to end 6-3 TT run for a 101-82 lead.


Fourth Quarter

8:25–SJ–Robinson three from left wing for a 104-82 lead.

5:12–TT–Westrol layup from left side for a 115-90 SJ lead.

3:09–TT–Westrol fouled and makes both FTs to end a 10-0 SJ run for a 125-92 SJ lead.

0.0–TT–ends game on a 16-3 run including an alleyoop dunk by Stanback, a thunderous dunk by Anosite, and two threes by Sean Gallagher. SJ wins 128-108.
