WEST ORANGE, NJ–In the GMC Hoops featured game at this showcase, St. Joseph’s faced off against Teaneck in the third contest on the final day of action at the 2011 Hoop Group Tip-Off Classic at West Orange High School. Despite double-double efforts from Quenton DeCosey (16 points and 11 rebounds) and Karl Towns (15 points and 10 rebounds), the Falcons fell to Teaneck, 53-49. The Highwaymen closed the game with a 22-11 surge for the win. Below are the notes from the game.
First Quarter
1:15–St. Joseph’s calls a 30 second timeout after forcing a Teaneck turnover. Â The Falcons lead 10-6. Â Karl Towns has 7 points on a three pointer, a putback, and two free throws. Â Karim Awad has a basket on a putback, and Danny Brix opened the game with one of two from the line.

Second Quarter
7:18–St. Joseph’s–takes biggest lead of the game to this point as DeCosey  got a bucket off a pretty layin for a 14-6 edge.
1:29–Teaneck–hits two three pointers to highlight a 15-1 tear for a 21-15 lead.
2.4–St. Joseph’s– Towns gets his first points since the late first quarter as he scores at basket and the foul, and makes the free throw for a three point play. Â Teaneck takes a 21-20 lead into the intermission.
Towns has 10 points, DeCosey has 6 points, Awad has 2 points, Long and Brix have a point.
Third Quarter
1:28–St. Joseph’s–calls full timeout after Teaneck gets a basket to pull within two at 31-29. Â The Falcons had built up a 29-22 lead thanks to an 8-1 run that featured six points from DeCosey and two points from Brix. Â DeCosey had a nice behind the back pass to Brix for a layup to highlight the run.

5:41–St. Joseph’s–DeCosey draws a foul on a drive from the left side. Â Makes one of two from the line for a 38-31 lead.

4:52–St. Joseph’s–calls for its final 30 second timeout after diving for a loose ball.  Follows a one of two showing at the line by Teaneck for  a 38-32 Falcons lead.
