Carteret Edges Metuchen Behind Daniels-Porter, 43-38

Ramblers Sweep Season Series from Bulldogs

CARTERET, NJ–After losing two straight games for the first time this season, the seventh ranked Carteret Ramblers were looking to get back on track when they hosted Metuchen in a GMC Blue clash on Wednesday evening.

Led by the play of forward, Isaiah Daniels-Porter, the Ramblers were able to overcome another fierce challenge from the Bulldogs, 43-38. Daniels-Porter had a game high 15 points along with 6 rebounds while Judah Pascal chipped in with 10 points and 4 rebounds.

Kahir Raymond added 6 points and 4 boards while football standout, Angelo Golino contributed with 5 points. Nine players got into the game for Carteret with seven of them scoring. James Hart didn’t score for the Ramblers, but he led the team with four steals.

Danny Flaherty led Metuchen in a losing cause with 13 points including a three pointer and 6 from the foul line while Sohan Ullal chipped in with 8 pointers including a trey. Riley Watkins added 7 points including a three. David Weiss (5 points) and Ethan Leibovits (3 points) rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

Metuchen had a 15-6 advantage in points scored from long distance while Carteret had a 30-14 edge in points scored from within the arc. The Bulldogs edged the Ramblers in points scored from the foul line, 9-7. As a team, Carteret collected 25 rebounds, 11 assists, 10 steals, and 5 blocked shots including two from Jemar Jordan (2 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists, and two blocks).

With the victory, Carteret sweeps the season series with Metuchen, and improves to 16-4 overall including a 10-1 record in the GMC Blue. Meanwhile, Metuchen, which had its three game winning streak snapped, fell to .500 at 9-9 including a 3-7 mark in divisional play. Both teams will be back in action later this week.

The Ramblers will travel to Rahway on Thursday for a 7:30 PM game while Metuchen will host Bishop Ahr on Friday night at 7:00 PM. Next week, Carteret will host South River on Monday at 5:30 PM while Metuchen will host South Plainfield at 7:00 PM.
