Eric LeGrand Classic Slated for January 17, 2016 at Kean University

Colonia, J.F. Kennedy, Woodbridge, and Carteret All Scheduled to Play in Showcase

COLONIA, NJ–Earlier this month, GMC Hoops learned from Jimmy Cheng that the Allstate Eric LeGrand Classic will be taking place at Kean University’s Harwood Arena on January 17, 2016. LeGrand is a former football standout at Colonia High School, who went on to play at Rutgers University. He was paralyzed after a collison during a kickoff return in the fourth quarter against Army on October 16, 2010.

Since that time, LeGrand has led the drive for spinal cord research while tirelessly rehabilitating himself to fulfill a quest to walk again some day. During his freshmen and sophomore years at Colonia, LeGrand also played basketball. Games are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM. There will be six games on the schedule including four involving teams from the GMC: Carteret, Colonia, J.F. Kennedy, and Woodbridge.

Six teams from the Union County Conference as well as two from the Skyland Conference are also participating. Featured match-up of the day will be between Gill St. Bernard’s and Roselle Catholic. All Day Tickets cost $5.00. Below is a full schedule of games for the event:
