GMC Football–Results–Week Eight–Friday Night

Just got in about 45 minutes ago from a great game played between Monroe and New Brunswick. Arrived with the score tied at 7-7 early in the second quarter when the Zebras went ahead with a touchdown run for a 14-7 lead at the half. New Brunswick had a chance to go up by more before the intermission after getting an interception in Monroe territory. However, the drive stalled, and the Zebras missed the field goal attempt.

In the third quarter, Monroe got two touchdowns including one on a 43 yard touchdown pass from Alex Vizcaino to Frank Ruopoli, and another on a touchdown run of 59 yards by Blake Bascom off the option from Ruopoli for a 21-14 lead heading into the fourth. Then, early on in the final period, Ruopoli, who scored three touchdowns on the night, ran in his third and final score for a 28-14 lead. Monroe Township then took some time off the clock when it surprised New Brunswick with an onsides kick. The Zebras eventually got the ball back and scored on a double pass from Jalen Long to John Simpson to Simuel Williams, who sped through the Falcon defense for the 28-21 score with 1:01 remaining.

The Purple Birds sealed the win, and clinched the GMC White Division title when they covered the ensuing onsides kick. It was an omen of things to come for GMC Hoops as it only won 6 of 10 games on Friday night. The worse start so far since making picks in Week Three. Nevertheless, the site is still 60-14 on the season with three more games tomorrow.
