GMC Hoops Game Notes–#13 Old Bridge vs. #12 Dickinson–Hamilton Park Summer League Playoffs–August 3, 2016

JERSEY CITY, NJ–In the first game of the GMC Hoops doubleheader at the 2016 Hamilton Park Summer League Playoffs, 13th seeded Old Bridge, which defeated 20th seeded Moore Catholic in the opening round, took on 12th seeded Dickinson. The Knights and Rams played during the regular season earlier this summer with Old Bridge coming away with the victory. Trailing 41-34 midway through the fourth period, Dickinson rallied with a 20-8 surge the rest of the way for a 54-49 victory and a date in the quarterfinals. Below are game notes from the action:

First Half

8:30–OB–jumps out to a 4-0 lead with two scores including a two handed jam by Kyle Paris.

5:14–DHS–three pointer to cap a 9-2 tear for a 9-6 lead. Rams got all nine of their points on three pointers.

4:29–OB–leads 11-9 after a jumper from the right wing by Brandon Millings. OB on a 5-0 run.

3:20–DHS–got two quick scores down low for a 4-0 run and a 13-11 lead.

1:44–OB–got a score from Rich Calandrino to tie the game at 13-13.

0:40–DHS–layup for a 15-13 lead.

0:02–DHS–transition layup with time running out for a 17-13 lead.


Second Quarter

5:49–OB–timeout. DIC on a 15-5 spurt including 7 of the first 10 points of the period following a three pointer for a 24-16 lead.

0:00–DHS leads at the half 24-21. Old Bridge closed the half on a 5-0 run including a jumper from Brandon Millings and a free throw. Dickinson didn’t score over the last 5:49 of the half.


Third Quarter

6:20–DHS–scores first points of the second half for a 26-21 lead. Ends scoring drought of about 6:29.

5:40–OB–Calandrino sinks a three pointer for a 26-24 DIC lead.

4:30–OB–Calandrino converts a traditional three point play for a 27-26 lead.

2:47–timeout–Old Bridge leads 29-28. Both teams exchange scores for Old Bridge’s one point lead.

2:04–OB–Paris scores in the paint for a 31-28 lead.

1:05–OB–Paris–fouled–makes both FTs for a 33-28 lead.

36.5–DHS–technical foul–OB–Paris makes both FTs for a 35-28.

7.7–DHS–layup for a 35-30 OB lead.

Fourth Quarter

6:30–OB–Will Osvald scores on a layup over a DHS defender from the right side. Ends 3-0 DHS run to for a 37-33 OB lead.

5:00–OB–Paris scores as he is fouled, but missed the bonus FT for a 41-34 lead. OB on a 6-1 run.

4:12–DHS–calls timeout after getting a score for a 41-36 OB lead.

3:28–DHS–three pointer for a 41-39 OB lead.

3:10–OB–timeout–score tied at 41-41 after a steal for a layup by DHS, which is now on a 7-0 run.

2:45–OB–Calandrino scores in transition after a block by Osvald for a 43-41 lead.

1:46–OB–timeout–after a layup by DHS for a 46-43 lead. DHS now on a 12-2 tear.
