NORTH BRANCH, NJ–On Sunday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to Raritan Valley Community College after work to see the final two games of the evening in week three of the 2014 Immaculata Fall League. Both games involved GMC schools including Middlesex, which was battling another former foe from the old Mountain Valley Conference in Bound Brook.
Leading 18-13 upon arrival with four minutes left, Middlesex embarked on a decisive 21-7 tear over a span of 10:06 to take a 39-20 lead with under 14 minutes to play. Highlighting the run was a 13-2 spurt to open up the second half. Then, Marcus Evans-Little, who ended the first half with two scores that gave Middlesex at 26-18 lead at the break, wrapped up the 55-28 win with a two handed jam and then a steal for a one handed slam. Arrived with 4 minutes left in the half, Middlesex led 18-13.
0:00–Bound Brook pulled within six at 22-16 when Jays closed half with a jumper in the key and a breakaway layup by Marcus Evans-Little for a 4-2 run and a 26-18 lead at the half.
Second Half
19:10–MID–Evans Little scores again down low for a 28-18 lead.
16:15–MID–on an 11-2 run to start the half with a layup and a three from Vince Chiera, a bucket by Evans-Little, and two scores by reserves for a 37-20 lead.
13:54–MID–now up 39-20 after a score down low by Evans-Little.
12:55–MID–timeout after two straight scores by BB for a 39-24 MID lead.
10:16–MID–gets back to back threes from Chiera and Jays reserve for a 45-24 lead.
5:45–MID–Evans-Little layup for a 47-26 lead.
4:10–MID–Chiera dishes to teammate for layup for a 49-26 lead.
3:54–MID–Evans-Little two handed dunk for a 51-26 lead.
2:13–MID–timeout–Evans-Little throws down a one handed slam off a steal at mid court for a 53-26 lead.
0:00–Both teams get scores to wap up game with Middlesex winning, 55-28.
GMC Hoops plans to be back out at Immaculata again next Sunday night for a possible GMC tripleheader.
