MONROE, NJ–In the nightcap of the GMC Hoops
doubleheader at the 2016 MJBL Spring League played at the Monroe Recreation Center, the Monroe Falcons took on STM Splash at 7:40 PM, and rolled to an easy victory. Sparked by early threes by Mike Kides and AK Patel, and a later three by Kevin Shea along with a layup by Patel, Monroe jumped out to a 17-0 lead over the first 8:53 of the contest.
STM Splash didn’t get on the board until the 9:06 mark of the game and never recovered as the Falcons continued to pour it on with a putback from Kenny Synsyn, a three by Matt Hoyt, and another trey by Kides. AK Patel, who had at least 10 points in the first half, then added three scores over the final minutes of the half as Monroe took a 37-7 lead into the intermission.
From there, Monroe, which improved to 7-0 on the Spring and is currently tied for first place in the West Division, cruised to a 65-33 win. The Falcons will be back in action again on Sunday with a 7:00 PM game against the Howell Hurricanes at the Central Jersey Basketball facility in Morganville. Below are game notes from the action:
