GMC Hoops Game Notes–Old Bridge Warriors vs. Monroe Falcons 9–MJBL Spring League–June 8, 2016

MORGANVILLE, NJ–In the nightcap of the MJBL doubleheader that was seen by GMC Hoops, the Monroe Falcons 9 of the South Division took on the Old Bridge Warriors of the East Division. After several back and forth runs over the first 10:47 of the contest, the Monroe Falcons 9, put together a 17-14 showing over the 17:34 of the game for a 34-30 lead with under 12 minutes to play. However, the Falcons 9 were unable to finish the job as they went cold from the floor while the Old Bridge Warriors finished the game by scoring 15 of the last 17 points for the 45-36 victory. First Half

16:27–OBW–Old Bridge Warriors jump out to a 7-2 lead on three field goals including a steal for a layup to cap the run.

14:23–MON–rallies with a 10-2 run including two threes from left corner for a 12-9 lead.

12:15–OBW–three pointer from left side of the top of the key to cap a 5-0 run for a 14-12 lead.

10:25–MON–timeout after OBW scores on a transition layup for a 16-12 lead.

9:13–MON–retakes lead at 17-16 with 5-0 burst capped by a three from #23.

6:23–OBW–calls timeout trailing MON 20-17 after another three by the Falcons 9.

4:51–OBW–layup closes gap to 22-19 for MON.

0:00–OBW–misses three attempt as the buzzer sounds. MON closes half on a 7-4 run including a three from the left wing by #24 for a 29-23 lead at the half.


Second Half

15:17–OBW–nice up and under move for a layup and a 4-2 start to half for a MON 31-27 lead.

11:39–MON–timeout after a basket a foul for OBW to get back within four a 34-30.

7:13–OBW–scores 7 of last 9 including a three, a drive and spin for a layup, and a pair of FTs for a 37-36 lead.

2:35–OBW–goes coast to coast for layup and a 6-0 run for a 43-36 lead.

1:42–OBW–hits jumper for a 45-36 lead.

0:00–OBW wins game 45-36. Warriors end the game on a 15-2 surge over last 11:39 of the game.

Old Bridge Warriors improved to 8-2 with the win while the Monroe Falcons 9 dropped to 3-6.
