GMC Hoops Game Notes–Sayreville vs. Notre Dame–May 11, 2015

UNION, NJ–On Monday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to Kean’s Harwood Arena to take in the final night of regular season action at the 2015 Kean Spring League. Once again, Sayreville was in action against Notre Dame of Lawrenceville over on Court #3. Playing without standout big man, Jahsim Floyd, the Bombers had a difficult time keeping up with Notre Dame. After the two teams exchanged leads three times and had one tie, Notre Dame went on a 14-2 tear to take a 20-7 lead, and never let Sayreville get closer than 8 points the rest of the way in an 87-53 victory. Below are game notes from the contest.

First Half

19:31–SAY jumps out to a 2-0 lead on a jumper from the right side by Andrew Gay.

17:50–ND–scores on layup after SAY three for a 6-5 lead. Three lead changes and a tie so far.

16:08–ND–basket for an 8-3 run and an 8-5 lead.

15:40–ND–basket for a 10-5 lead.

12:40–ND–transition layup for a 14-5 run and a 14-7 lead.

11:45–ND Isaiah Wong swipes steal and is fouled on a layup attempt. Makes both FTs for an 18-7 lead.

10:10–SAY–timeout after ND swipes steal and scores on transition layup for a 20-7 lead.

6:27–SAY on a 7-2 run to close the gap to 22-14.

3:08–ND–10-4 run including an alleyoop layup off the break for a 32-18 lead.

1:37–SAY–timeout with ND leading 33-18.

0:00–ND–ends half on an 8-4 run including a couple more transition baskets for a 41-22 halftime lead.


Second Half

14:31–ND–starts half with a 6-4 run for a 47-26 lead.

12:14–SAY–timeout after two fast break layup a by ND for a 9-5 run and a 56-31 lead.

10:35–SAY–Gay scores a layup as he is fouled, but misses bonus FT for a 64-36 ND lead. Ended an 8-3 run by the Irish.

8:08–ND hits a three pointer from the left corner for a 7-3 run and a 71-39 lead.

4:47–SAY–Gay with a nice take followed by a three pointer from the right wing for a 5-0 run and a 78-49 ND lead.

0:00–ND closes the game out with a 9-4 run for an 87-53 win.

GMC Hoops plans to be back out at Kean University on Wednesday night for opening round playoff action.
