GMC Hoops Game Notes–Sayreville vs. Roundballers–Kean Spring League Playoffs–Opening Round–May 13, 2015

UNION, NJ–On Wednesday night, the opening round of the playoffs took place at the 2015 Kean Spring League. Sayreville, the lone representative from the GMC competing in this league, was taking on the Roundballers. The Bombers gave up two early threes to fall behind 6-2, but rallied to tie the score at 8-8 on a jumper from the left elbow by Jahsim Floyd. However, the Bombers weren’t able to keep up with the Roundballers after that as they succumbed to a 14-4 tear, and never got any closer than five points the rest of the way in a 63-39 Roundballers victory. Below are game notes from the action:

First Half

19:15–RB hits three pointer to take a 3-0 lead.

17:50–SAY–After another three by RB for a 6-0 lead. Jahsim Floyd hits a jumper from the left elbow to get Bombers on the board and close the gap to 6-2.

14:25–RB–After SAY tied things up at 8-8 with two threes, RB goes on a 6-0 run including two transition lay ups for a 14-8 lead.

13:21–SAY–timeout after another score by RB for a 16-8 lead.

9:05–SAY–hits a three from the left corner to end a 4-0 RB run on back to back transition lay ups for a 20-12 RB lead.

6:50–RB–gets rebound off Floyd miss and scores in transition for a 22-12 lead.

3:49–SAY–after being held to one field goal for about 10 minutes, the Bombers get a basket and a foul (missed ft) and a three for a 5-0 run to close the gap to 24-19.

3:19–RB–three pointer from right corner for a 27-19 lead.

3.9–RB–hits a three from the right wing to cap a 6-2 end to the first half for a 33-21 lead.


Second Half

9:32–RB–opens up the second half on a 15-6 tear including a dunk and two layups for a 48-27 lead.

7:00–RB up 52-31 after a drive down the right lane for a layup. Followed layin by Mitchell Strandberg.

5:10–SAY–Strandberg fouled and makes both FTs for a 55-33 RB lead.

4:45–SAY–Strandberg–transition layup for a 55-35 RB lead.

3:30–RB–now on a 6-0 run including a putback for a 61-35 lead.

0:00–RB–rounds out the clock for a 63-39 win.
