RAHWAY, NJ–In the nightcap of the day five quadrupleheader at the 2016 Rahway Summer League, it was an all GMC affair as Perth Amboy took on South Plainfield. The game was a back and forth affair with 13 lead changes and 5 ties while neither team held a lead larger than six points.
Trailing 52-48 with two minutes remaining, South Plainfield rallied with two free throws at the 1:16 mark, and then took a 53-52 lead on a three from Will McLaughlin with 56 seconds remaining in regulation. Perth Amboy did manage to pull out the 54-52 win as St. Joseph’s transfer, Chris Carrera sank two free throws with 32.7 seconds to play, and the Panthers held off two scoring chances by the Tigers in the final seconds.
