Here are video highlights from the contest between Teaneck of the Big North Conference and Bergen County and St. Joseph’s of Metuchen on the final day of the 2012 Hoop Group Tip-Off Classic at West Orange High School. In a rematch of last year’s Tip-Off Classic contest, won by Teaneck (53-49), the Falcons got off to a fast start with an 8-4 lead as Immaculata transfer Wade Baldwin (27 points) registered a traditional three point play, and a triple from beyond the top of the key, but like last year’s game against the Highwaymen, St. Joe’s went into a funk the rest of the second half, and Teaneck took advantage to take an 18-16 lead at the half.
Karl Towns (18 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 blocks) took over in the third as he scored the bulk of his 16 second half points in the period after only two in the first half, but Joel Hernandez (19 points) kept Teaneck in the game with a last second fallaway shot to end the third, and Shaakir Lindsey (16 points) took advantage of an 0 of 9 performance from the foul line by the Falcons in the last minute of regulation by driving and dishing to Myles McLeod for a layup as time expired to tie the game at 58-58, and force overtime. In the extra session though, Baldwin scored 5 points while Towns and Marques Townes (13 points all in second half and OT) each added two as the Falcons led by four late before a three by Teaneck with a second left to make the final score 67-66 in favor of Joes. Probably the best game of the second day of the Tip-Off Classic.
