GMC Hoops Highlights–February 17, 2013–#11 Old Bridge vs. #3 No. Brunswick–GMCT Elite Eight

Here are highlights from the action in 11th seeded Old Bridge’s upset victory over 3rd seeded North Brunswick in the 2013 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.

Building off the momentum gained in its upset over 6th seeded South Brunswick, Old Bridge, led by Sultan Aminu and Tyler Drews, the Knights overcame a 15-6 deficit keyed by a 13-0 North Brunswick run early on to win 58-53 to reach its first GMCT Final Four since the school formed from the merger of Madison Central and Cedar Ridge in 1994.

Aminu, the first ever 1,000 point scorer at OBHS, who collected 25 points and 15 rebounds in the victory over South Brunswick in the round of 16, followed that up with a 25 point, 17 rebound effort in the win over North Brunswick. Drews battled through injury to chip in with 11 points. Billy Andrews came off the bench to add a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Iverson Fleming led the Raiders in defeat with 20 points while Dennis Ford Jr. added 12 points including two monster dunks, and Nick Sidotti chipped in with 12 points as well. Old Bridge outscored North Brunswick 52-38 from about the midway point of the first quarter on.
